I was more than happy to help Polar and work the Lifetime Fitness Triathlon in Minneapolis, MN.
Having worked many NYC Triathlon Expos, Minneapolis and the Lifetime Fitness Tri was pretty impressive. Endless Pools were there and I can only hope they travel to NYC for you guys/gals.
Why? Because they were conducting free underwater video taping and burning it to a CD or DVD. Orbea was there with the hot new Ordu's, matte black looked real stealth.
Unfortunately I will be at Ironman USA at Lake Placid for Polar and will not be able to compare the NYC race experience to the Lifetime Tri.
Oh, and the Pro's.. At the start of the race, they announced the top men's field, and had them walk across a holding pen, a good photo opportunity. It was like the start of the Olympics Alexander, Craig (AUS),Bennett, Greg (AUS),Cunningham, Richie (AUS)Docherty, Bevan(NZL),Kemper, Hunter (USA),Reed, Matt (USA),Remaly, Greg (USA)Robertson, Peter (AUS),Thompson, David (USA) and some guy named Walton, Craig (AUS).
For the women, 2004 Olympian Barb Lindquist introduced Bennett, Laura (AUS), Hill, Rina (AUS),Lavelle, Becky (USA),McGlone, Samantha (CAN),Shapiro, Margie (USA),Snowsill, Emma (AUS),Taylor, Pip (AUS). WOW, what a lineup! The Pro's were not about to finish and run off into a tent, they stood around like many of us after any race and recapped the day. Since Polar was an official sponsor of the race, I was to flash my VIP pass and go to an area and take of few photos for my friends at MetroTri.com.
I have to admit, I was a little star struck and then released, THE CAMERA!!!
