Out Breathing:
Get the Air You Need.

"Breathing is such a natural activity that we seldom
give it a thought. The only time we even become
conscious of it is when we’re breathless from
exertion or, well, panic. Or in the case of
swimming, sometimes both at once.
...for most folks, the most instinctive
way to breathe is to pay attention to the
inhale, but for the exhale to be an afterthought.
In swimming, as well as other activities
that involve enough exertion to lead to
breathlessness, it should really be the
opposite. Focus on the exhale; let the inhale
take care of itself... "

to have the 2006 event calendar up and running
some time in January.

SBR is now accepting applications for their
two 2006 sponsorships teams:
An Elite team of 8
A Community team of 20
The 2005 SBR team produced 4 Hawaii Ironman world championship
qualifiers and over 50 podium finishes.
For 2006, armed with a slightly larger budget
& more sponsors, SBR is looking for
athletes to join the Elite and Community
Teams.
The Community Team will be made up of
new or veteran athletes to the sport or
people with middle of the pack results,
not finishing in the top 10 in their races;
people who are known in their community,
work environment or gym as triathletes.
SBR is also looking for coaches or personal
trainers who come in regular contact with
swimmers, cyclists, runners and triathletes.
SBR is very active with the teams in all aspects training
and competing.

Applications for the June 24th (brrrrrr)
Manhattan
Island Marathon Swim just became
available. If the past is any indication,
this race will fill up in days, if not hours.
Anyone interested in participating, whether
as a solo swimmer or on a relay team, should
apply as soon as possible.

Applications for the rest
of the swim series normally aren't accepted
until the spring, but from Dec 15 - 31 you
can sign up for any of the other races at
a discount.

2006 NYC Triathlon
Registration is now open for the July 16th
NYC
Triathlon. It's $135 and usually fills
up pretty quickly.
Ironman Men's & Women's Pro Championships
For 2006, Ironman will again feature a men’s
only and women’s only professional race for
the second consecutive year, with a $50,000
pro-prize purses for each race.
The top pro women will compete at the June
25Ford Ironman USA Coeur d ’Alene, and the
top prol men will compete at Ford Ironman
USA Lake Placid on July 23rd.
